Private Island Cabin Asks $1 Million
A $950,000 asking price may at first seem steep for a small rustic cabin near Olympia, Wa., but not when it comes with its own private island, reports Curbed Seattle. The property on Lake St. Clair includes both a mainland house and an island parcel with its own cabin.
Main cabin with 100 feet of waterfront
The mainland lot is sizable, at more than 12,000 square feet. The article reports that an upscale cabin sits on the lot, complete with old-style tongue-in-groove walls and flooring, exposed beams, full-sized appliances, and a propane fireplace. The property sits on 100 feet of waterfront along Lake St. Clair and is well suited to canoeing and kayaking enthusiasts.
Island cabin sits on four acres of forested land
However, the property’s biggest draw is a four-acre private island situated in the middle of the lake and covered with old-growth pines. Among the trees sits a 792-square-foot cabin. This building is said to be much more rustic that the mainland home. The building is largely an open space with a classic old wood stove at the center.
Rustic island retreat or developed dream cabin
The island reportedly features a septic system that can accommodate a four-bedroom home. The article reports the island is currently best suited for nature retreats in and around the forest along existing walking trails and picnic areas. However, the island property has the potential to be furthered developed to accommodate the new buyer’s dream cabin.
