Information Security and eClose Among Topics at 2018 MLTA Convention

The 2018 Michigan Land Title Association (MLTA) Convention was a great success … again. The annual event took place July 15 – 17 at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island. Thought leaders and decision makers joined title professionals from across the state to discuss the most pressing topics facing the title industry today.

As platinum sponsors, Amrock’s presence and engagement at the convention was reflective of our dedication to relationship building and connecting with our partners and peers through relevant conversations that affect our industry. During the event, Amrock was called out for being active in moving the industry forward through MLTA and the American Land Title Association (ALTA).

“Relationships are an integral component of Amrock’s business and culture,” said Brad Miller, Amrock’s Vice President of Title Production. “It’s important for us to engage and be able to provide insight about the changes happening in our industry.”

There was also much conversation around the state of the economy and how it is shaping the industry focus, spinning off of a presentation that kicked off the convention by chairman and CEO of Sage Policy Group, Anirban Basu. It provided a detailed discussion of global, national and regional economies using the most up-to-date data available. The analysis brought attention to critical elements of economic life, including the real estate market.

Throughout the conference there was a buzz about growing technologies and how the industry is catching up. William Burding Jr., ALTA’s Chair of the Abstractors and Title Insurance Agents Section Executive Committee, presented, “ALTA’s Strategic Priorities to Advance the Industry.” His discussion touched on topics such as customer experience, talent focus, best practices and state activity. The presentation also included a rundown of the current state of remote online notarization (RON), and eClose conversations persisted throughout the conference among attendees.“EClosing, including RON, is a reality now, and more and more the industry is recognizing that we all need to embrace it “Our team members are committed to being active in the conversations around what we can do to help move it forward.”
